JAW/TMJ/BRUXISM

Bruxism is a habit of grinding or clenching the teeth. The causes of bruxism are not known for certain. The dentist can diagnose bruxism by looking for unusual wear spots on your teeth and assessing related symptoms. Some of the symptoms of grinding are headaches, sore jaws, and worn or cracked teeth or fillings.
The most common treatment for bruxism is to fabricate an occlusal guard that is worn at night. We will take an impression of your teeth and send the models to a laboratory. In about a week, the bite guard is delivered to you with instructions for the use and care of it. Many insurance companies cover a portion of the cost but it depends on the individual policies.
